Cleaning Product Resources
Sun Brite cleaner was recommended to me for cleaning antique toys by Laura at www.BuddyKToys.com. You can order it from them. It's very gentle and I've used it on my 1938 Buddy L Toy Cash Register

Uncle Sam's Register Banks and Cash Registers Collectors Guide
This is the only book specializing in toy cash registers that I'm aware of. I don't actually collect these banks because I find them lacking in visual interest. It contains 100 pages with over 150 full color photos of different Uncle Sam's Register Banks and Cash Registers, special promotional banks, banks for export, sales materials, and packaging. The Guide covers only those Uncle Sam's Register Banks and Cash Registers made by the originator of this line, that being the Durable Toy and Novelty Co. of New York City. The Durable Toy and Novelty Co. manufactured these banks for over 50 years from 1907 until late 1958 when they were acquired by the Western Stamping Company of Jackson, Michigan. To the purist collector any Uncle Sam's Register Bank or Cash Register made after the acquisition does not have the collectable value as those made by the originator and creator of this American classic. The guide starts with a chronological history starting in 1907 and continues up until the acquisition in 1958. This is followed by a Rating and Grading Scale to explain to you how each bank is rated. This is a rare book and you'll probably have to look someplace like AbeBooks ( http://abebooks.com/) for it.

These are a number of privately published and sometimes autographed books on toy banks of various types. Contact Minaz - Minazo@Comcast.Net for more information.

Wherever Men Trade: The Romance of the Cash Register
By Isaac F. Marcosson, from 1948. This 263 page hardcover with torn dust jacket was published by Dodd, Mead & Company in New York. The book is a history of the cash register, invented in 1878, and the National Cash Register company, which was founded in 1884. In addition to the history, the book includes photographs of the company's plant and leaders, the very first cash register, and the state of the art as it existed at the time. Several photographs show the vast staff, including one of Bob Hope entertaining them in the company auditorium. National Cash Register, now named NCR Corporation, still exists and offers hardware and software and data warehousing unimaginable to the people populating the pages of this book.
