Popcorn Kernel Rating (four possible): 3.75
kernels for dramatic and romantic tension.
Thanks to years of Hollywood, the image of
bank robber or catburgler as gentleman is a familiar one. Thus
Jack Foley (George Clooney) is one such man. Good looking to the
point of distraction, charming, and possessing a voice of burnt
umber. Yes, this is a man that any equally good looking federal
marshal Karen Sisco (Jennifer Lopez) would find attractive. Of
course she likes the bad boys, and is equally tough herself. If
this couple had been played by any other two actors, the movie
would not have half the zest it does. Out Of Site is basically a
road movie, with Foley escaping from prison and off to his final
big crime and Sisco charging after. Her voice is equally as deep
and honeyed, and together they burn a long trail through a
series of mishaps, chances, and near misses.
Lopez is particularly strong as the
soft-spoken marshall who doesn’t take any guff from the long
series of sleazebags hitting on her. She kicks ass. It was worth
it all just to see her whip out that nightstick and whack the
rapist sleezebag in the head. If the plot were the draw, I
wouldn’t have bothered to watch. But these two made this movie
come alive. A pleasure from end to end.
Suggested Gustatory Accompaniment: Champlain
Valley Chocolates Vanilla Caramels for a smooth deep flavor that
matches their voices.
