Miniature Copy of 1966 Wooden Fisher Price Register

This remarkable miniature is a good copy of the 1966 wooden toy cash register made by Fisher Price. You can see it in the photo below that comes from the 1966 Montgomery Ward catalogue. The full page from this catalogue can be seen on the catalogue ephemera page.  What a beauty!

Detailed Wooden Miniature

Exceptional detailing makes this wooden miniature something to go shopping for. Working crank and drawer. Says something like "Pobolo" on the back.

Super Mini Wooden

This is about half the size of the miniature at left, but still has a working drawer. From Japan.

Wooden with Gold Leaf

Gold "leaf" and hand set buttons make this little mini unique. Possibly made of balsa wood due to very light weight.

Handmade

An interesting example because it is entirely handmade. Nice detailing considering the size.

German Erzi

At present this is the only 100% wooden mid sided register I'm aware of. The credit cards are even made of wood! I particularly love the buttons which "squeek" like a balloon being released when tapped; they call it "acoustical." Erzi, "We make lovely things of wood," Germany, 2004.

Cedar Chachki from the White Mountains

This is a tourist chachki from the White Mountains in North Conway, New Hampshire. I do love cedar products (and the wonderful scent) but designwise it's nothing special. The reason I had to have it was because I have visited the White Mountains every summer for most of my life. Lots of good memories there.

Creative Playthings

This beautiful handmade wood register is from Creative Playthings in Princeton, New Jersey where I lived until I was about 12. Creative Playthings was a small company whose business was centered around wooden toys. In 1966 or so they were purchased by CBS, who poured money into the company and established a design office for them.

Waldorf Wooden

Another nice wooden register, with a unique feature of an abacus on top. These are used in Waldorf schools. (presumably) Haba, Circa 1990's.
